Okay. Let’s kill her.

ESSIE

Oh, that’s swift. You kill her, the government sends ten more like her.

14 INT. SARCOPHAGUS ROOM — DAY 14

Karl ransacks his sarcophagus. A football. A Wrenfield High pennant. A picture of him with two football buddies.  He comes up with a page from the local paper, with his photo. “Mysterious Leukemia Blindsides Wrenfield Football Champ.” He crumples it, tosses it away. He comes up with a letter jacket. He puts it on, slowly, relishing the feeling. Zips it up. Smiles blissfully.

FADE OUT.

SHERRY

... and he looked exactly like he was in my dreams.

MARIAN HACKETT

And then he was gone?

SHERRY

Maybe I blinked.

MARIAN HACKETT

Did he look like this?

She unfolds a Wrenfield High YEARBOOK to the photo of Karl with his two FOOTBALL BUDDIES.

SHERRY

No.

MARIAN HACKETT

No?

SHERRY

He was slimmer ... taller ... and he had these really deep eyes.

MARIAN HACKETT

Deep?

SHERRY

Poetic. You know? Intense. Like I could fall into them?

MARIAN HACKETT

You felt like this in the hallway, or in—

SHERRY

—in my dreams. And in the hallway.

VAMP CAM back to—

KARL

I got it!

DREW

Karl, I was—

KARL

—watching that chick, I know, I know. That’s not healthy, bro. It’ll never going to work out between you two. You gotta let her live her own life. Listen, I’m gonna go home.

DREW

Home?
ESSIE

This is unfortunate. My friend Jack Agyar? She killed his Maker.

MERRILL

Yeah, and one of those gadgets of hers gave me this scar.

She shows a small but distinct scar on her side.

KARL

See my mom. Won’t she be happy when she finds out I’m really still alive?

DREW

She’ll drop dead of a heart attack! If you’re lucky!

KARL

Why?
